Identification of Enzyme Involved in Inflammation

Jane Hoover-Plow, PhD, of the Lerner Research Institute,
has identified an enzyme that may play a key role in the development of cardiovascular diseases. It is associated with a substance known as plasminogen, which recruits white blood cells to the site of an injury. This enzyme can now be investigated as a target for preventive therapies.
